Hovsco HovCity vs Aventon Pace 500 - City Commuter Ebike Comparison
With the release of the HovCity Step-Thru, Hovsco is stepping into the new world of city commuter bikes. To put this statement in perspective, we decided to write up a piece comparing our new addition to the field, the HovCity Step-Through. For good measure we've also included a comparison of the Hovsco HovCity vs Aventon Pace 500.
Just because you commute on your bike doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. The HovCity Step-Thru ebike and Aventon Pace 500 ebike all split the difference between a city commuter ebike and a relaxed city cruiser.
AN OVERVIEW OF STATS
Before we start, it’s worth noting that these two bikes are very similar. While there are certainly a handful of differences that distinguish them, they’re all fairly small and have a lot to do with personal preference.

From this chart, we can clearly see that HovCity and Pace 500 has lots of similar components. 48V/500W brushless rear-hub motor, five levels of pedal assist up to 28 mph, 53 pound for bike weight, backlit color display with mobile app synchronization and 27.5 x 2.2-inch ebike-rated tires. But two components are different, one is that HovCity with seven-speed drivetrain, while Pace 500 has eight-speed drivetrain. Another one is that HovCity with mechanical disc brakes, but Pace 500 has hydraulic disc brakes equipped. Actually considering configuration, seven or eight speed drivetrain almost functions the same. For riders who have less budget, HovCity Step-Thru might suit you more.

The HovCity Step-Through Ebike
Pace 500 gets something like 40miles per charge on the max pedal assist and about 60 miles on the lowest pedal assist level. While Pace 500 get 25 miles per charge on the max level and 51 miles on lowest level.This is quite impressive. In terms of power, the lighter weight on the Pace 500 contributes to it feeling more powerful than the other two bikes, especially up hills on throttle only.

Disc brakes on both bikes provide maximum braking power without sacrificing comfort. It is important to consider hydraulic disc brakes when looking for an ebike with a high top speed and the ability to accelerate quickly, such as these two. |

The HovCity Step-Thru has a front suspension fork, and got a comfortable seat and 2.2″ wide tires that you can underinflate to reduce shocks, while Pace 500 has a hard front fork. You’ll probably prefer to ride HovCity in the city on paved roads.
HovCity VS Pace 500 : WRAPPING UP
While the frame on the Pace 500 ebike looks similar to the HovCity Step-Thru ebike in shape, Hovsco HovCity Step-Thru’s design team has made the bike available in some pretty bold colors, ocean green, space grey and champagne. And the green version is definitely an attention-grabber.
The HovCity Step-Thru and Pace 500 are neck-and-neck after our thorough analysis. This comparison offers a few points to consider, but some riders who are still looking for better power with considering the performance may still lean one way or the other.
