HovBeta Step-Through Ebike vs KBO Ranger Ebike
When we released our exciting new ebike the HovBeta last month we also released a blog piece comparing our new-to-market, top of the line, ebike to one of the most well established and best known in the field; Aventon Sinch. If you haven’t seen this piece, you can find it here: Hovsco HovBeta Step-Through vs Aventon Sinch.
Since releasing our HovBeta Step-Through Foldable Ebike, we found many of these commentators and testers to be comparing our HovBeta to another ebike which we knew about, but hadn’t delved into in great detail. That ebike is the KBO Ranger, seeing as we produced a comparison piece for what we saw as the HovBeta's biggest competitor, we only find it fitting to do the same for the ebike that many knowledgeable and independent voices in the ebike space see as its most direct competitor.

And we have a less weight which means riding HovBeta Step-Through will be easier and faster. Ride a smooth comfortable ebike with HovBeta then.
ELECTRICAL
Except the Stats, the next step we're going to look at these ebikes through is the electrical components. Not only are we going to compare the electrical components but we’re also going to see what these choices, made by the manufactures, actually amount to in the final product.

Battery |
48V,15Ah |
48V,17.5Ah |
Compared to KBO Ranger, HovBeta has a little less power, but it doesn't affect our ebike riding range because we have a better charger and a powerful motor which allow you to trave further on each charge. |
Motor |
750W 48V Brushless Rear Hub Motor |
750W 48V |
HovBeta has a larger motor, which gives it a better performance and longer lifespan. It is frustrating for riders, especially on longer distances, when the electricity runs out. With the HovBeta 750W power, you can take out on the trail and spend more time where you want to be. |
Pedal Assist |
5 Levels of PA |
5 Levels of PA |
Our pedal assists are equal. Equally power assist, and positioned in the same place on the ebike. |
Charger |
48V 3 Amp |
48V 3 Amp |
Both are equipped with the same charger. The higher charger means more time being where you want to be; out on the trail! |
LCD Screen |
LCD |
LCD |
Both displays show battery charge level, speedometer, odometer, trip odometer, and your pedal assist level. So nothing different there. |
Battery Lights | Yes | No |
HovBeta has a full LED strip light on one side of battery. You will never have to worry about mobile phone or other electronic products powered off. Even while camping outside at night, the attached battery light will give much convenience. |
Sensor | Torque Sensor | Speed Sensor |
With a torque sensor, you are always helping. Even at the 300% level you are still providing 1/4 of the power yourself. Whilst a cadence sensor is a constant speed bike (to the limit you set on your display). More smart, less strength you need to take with a torque sensor. |
Detail is key when we get down to this level and the smaller things, such as a torque sensor, battery light. It begins to show signs of an ebike whose design has been scrutinized to ensure that it is the best possible machine, that does everything a real user wants it to do, convenient and strength saving, a comfortable and happy riding.
MECHANICAL
From the electronic we move onto the mechanical parts of these ebikes. This includes brake, gearing and suspension fork.

Brakes |
Hydraulic Disc |
Mechanical Disc Brakes |
Compared to mechanical brakes, hydraulic brakes deliver more power and smoother operation. Since hydraulic brakes are safer, they make sense when you're riding a machine that can reach 20mph from a standing start, while also being quite a bit heavier than a regular bicycle. |
Gearing |
7 |
7 |
Having an extra gears means more flexibility with speed and the ability to transition between gears slightly smoother. HovBeta and KBO Ranger both are equipped with 7 speed gearing. |
Suspension Fork |
Zoom Spring Coil Fork 80mm |
Coil Fork 80mm |
Both ebikes have a 80mm of travel for absorbing bumps when setting out on an adventure! |
The safety of the rider should be one of the major concerns of the manufacturers of powerful, rideable machines such as ebikes. A set of hydraulic brakes which work smoothly and efficiently time and time again with no cable stretching over time, shows, again, the level of detailed thought which has gone into one of these ebikes over the other.
PHYSICAL
After analyzing a product the last thing is to give it a look over to see if you actually like it. We’ve done this and, whilst we think the HovBeta Step-Through foldable is just that much more convenient and compact after folding, we also noted a few other points of interest.

Carry Capacity | 400lbs (incl. rider) | 300lbs | With much more weight capacity, HovBeta riders can pack their bags without thinking about weight much because they know the ebike can meet their life demands. |
Integrated Battery | Yes | Yes | HovBeta integrate it into the frame in a stylishly sleek way. That's what most riders want to see. |

THE FINAL THOUGHT
After comparing these two ebikes side by side there are many similarities between these two products which make them quite inseparable. At Hovsco, we put into everything we design, build, and do. It shows through in the final product and we’re very proud of that and this new ebike that we’re so excited to release into the wild!
