Ebike Equipment for Touring with Kids

Children's age, weight, and comfort level with riding a bike determine the best mode of transportation for them on a bike tour. Consider the following options:

Child bike seats

The majority of child bike seats attach to the back of your bicycle and can carry children weighing up to 45 pounds (check the product specifications for specific weight limits). When it comes to child bike seats, they are mostly used for day trips, but if you are determined to tour with a young child, then consider them.

Child bike trailers

Bike trailers attach to the rear hub of your bike and allow your child to relax while you pull them. Generally, they are a good choice for toddlers and kids up to about six years old. Trailers provide some storage space for packing gear, but do not overload them. When kids are being pulled in a trailer, they may get bored, so be sure to provide them with something to do inside-toys, stuffed animals and snacks are usually popular choices.

Trailer bikes

A trailer bike allows your child to pedal along and feel like they are a part of the trip or sit back and relax if they get tired. Trailer bikes are a good option for kids about 4 to 7 years old who are interested in pedaling along with you.

Kids’ bikes

As soon as your child can independently ride their own bike and can't get enough of it, you can let them go and breathe a sigh of relief since you no longer have to carry their weight. It depends on the child's age, but around 7 or 8 years old is a good time to give it a try. The majority of kids' bikes are suitable for short tours, including those with coaster brakes and only one speed, so you won't have to buy a new bike for your child to try touring. Choose from our selection of boy's bikes and girl's bikes to get them rolling.
